Episode seven: Johnstons of Elgin

Johnstons of Elgin are known the world over as the experts in cashmere and fine woollens, standing strong for over two centuries. They have crammed a lot of learning in since their inception in 1797 - like the importance of building your mill next to a river that carries only the softest Scottish water or how to weave the landscape into every one of your products. This is why keeping manufacturing on home soil is integral to their product; heritage and provenance can’t be bought - it’s Johnstons’ values that set them apart.

In this episode Lynne and Gill dive into the impact Covid is having on the fashion industry and consumers. Covid may be the final nail in the coffin for the fashion industry but the reality is this has been death by a thousand cuts and change was already on the horizon. However the outlook is positive as Lynne wrote in her open letter to the textiles industry for Harper’s Bazaar.
